Building a Web site

Postby SMCU » Thu Jan 07, 2010 11:36 am

One of the best ways in our ever increasingly digital world to interact with your group and promote your cause to the community is to build a Web site. For some people, this seems like an easy enough weekend project. But for the majority, building your own Web site sounds like as daunting a task you could ever take on, especially if you have no experience in the field.

Thankfully, companies such as Blogger (http://www.blogger.com/) and Wordpress (http://wordpress.com/) make it simple to create your own piece of the internet. In less than 5 minutes you could be set up and ready to start broadcasting your cause to the masses.

Why Blog?
Blogging is one of the easiest ways to keep your site up-to-date with fresh content. Plus you don't have to understand any Web site code to make it work. Utilizing a blog provider (Wordpress, Blogger, etc.) allows you to focus on developing compelling content without having to worry about potentially complex Web site issues.

Plus...in most cases, it's FREE! So, why not?

How Do I Get Started?
Both free and subscription based blogging services are available. Here are some resources that may help you get started.
